Professor Jerry Tew

Jerry is Professor of Mental Health and Social Work at the University of Birmingham. A former social worker and manager, Jerry has researched and written on prevention and family inclusive and strengths-based practice in adult social care, and on social and relational approaches in mental health. His most recent research projects (both funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research) have been a trial of the Open Dialogue approach in mental health and a national study of Family and Group Conferencing in adult social care and mental health services. For many years he has been part of a national network committed to developing Family and Group Conferencing as a way of working in local authority, NHS and voluntary sector contexts.
